Spores & s’mores are on the menu at this Catskills resort

Making gooey s’mores over a flickering campfire was already a treat for the senses. But at the Wylder Hotel in Windham, it’s now a (mildly) mind-expanding experience.

The Catskills resort recently introduced a “Wyld Fireside” package that swaps kid-friendly Hershey bars for adult-oriented chocolate from Alice Mushrooms. These functional chocolates are infused with nootropic and adaptogenic mushrooms such as lion’s mane, reishi and cordyceps. They don’t contain psilocybin and won’t send you on a kaleidoscopic vision quest; they do, however, claim to relieve stress and even boost arousal.

But the biggest side effect is nostalgia.

“Guests are looking for the kinds of experiences they remember growing up with, whether that’s spending more time outdoors, unplugging for a weekend or making s’mores at the end of the day,” John Flannigan, founder and CEO of Wylder Hotels, told The Post.

Melting chocolate infused with functional mushrooms alongside gooey marshmallows between graham crackers was exactly the twist on the 1920s campfire classic the team was looking for.

“We loved the idea of taking something so familiar and partnering with Alice to give it a fresh take,” Flannigan said. “It keeps everything people love about the tradition but adds a little surprise. For us, those small, familiar moments often become the most memorable part of a stay.”

The sweet treat, a $35-plus, tax add-on amenity, comes with wooden roasting sticks, graham crackers, marshmallows and two single-serve bars from Alice’s signature formulas, which can be roasted over any of the multiple fire pits spread throughout Wylder’s 20-acre compound.

The property features seven different lodging experiences, from Victorian buildings to historic lodges, many offering incredible views of Windham Mountain.

With so much to do at this ski-town property just two hours from New York City — including hopping on an electric bike, playing pickleball or cornhole, taking a dip in the heated saltwater pool, tubing and relaxing in a wood-fired sauna — this campfire treat is designed to help overactive guests wind down.

Better still, guests who indulge in the mushroom chocolate get a special in-room snack box filled with decidedly kid-friendly treats like Pirate’s Booty, Tate’s cookies, Haribo gummy bears and more.
