Ahead of this week’s RAW, the company taped the December 26 episode of the blue brand. Continuing to build momentum for the new year, the company featured United States Champion Ilja Dragunov in action, but not in a singles match this time.

Last week’s episode of the show featured Carmelo Hayes turn babyface and help Ilja Dragunov even the odds against DIY. The company booked a tag team match between the two duos for the December 26 episode of the blue brand, with the excitement building for what WWE had in store for the two teams.

As revealed by fans at the arena who witnessed the taping, Dragunov and Hayes defeated the former WWE Tag Team Champions, Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano. Time will now tell what the company has in store for the four stars next.

What’s next for Carmelo Hayes after a babyface turn on WWE SmackDown?

Former NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes has not been getting the opportunities he deserves since his move to the main roster. Hayes has been a major heel on the blue brand, but things haven’t quite added up for the star.

However, since his babyface turn last week, the excitement among fans for Hayes’ future has been at an all-time high. With a new character, the young star could finally get the push he deserves, with a potential title run as well in the next few months. Fans will have to wait and see what the company has planned for the star following the character change.
