Spencer Pratt campaign video torches Bass as LA mayoral race heats up

A catchy, salsa-infused animated campaign video released this week by a group called Latinos Por Pratt has gone viral online, depicting LA Mayoral candidate Spencer Pratt taking aim at incumbent Mayor Karen Bass.

The song, titled “Spencer, Saca la Bassura,” aka “Spencer, take out the trash,” is a rhythmic roasting of the city’s current state, from the mounting homeless encampments to the potholes that “still attack my tires flat.”

The video’s most provocative image isn’t just the crumbling infrastructure — it’s Pratt himself “cleaning up the streets.”

The animated video shows Bass taking selfies in far-off locations like Ghana while the hills of Los Angeles burn behind her. The lyrics don’t pull any punches: “Mayor Karen took a trip way off the map while the hills caught fire…she was posting from abroad, probably says though it’s raining from the sky.”

For Pratt, the fire imagery isn’t just a metaphor; it’s personal. The reality star became a vocal critic of the administration after losing his own home in the devastating Palisades Fire last year. Pratt launched his campaign in February and built his candidacy around accountability for the wildfire response, pledging to audit homeless spending and overhaul the city’s police and fire commissions.

Meanwhile, the Spencer character, a shades-wearing, broom-wielding protagonist, is shown literally sweeping away the tents and trash that have become a hallmark of Hollywood, Venice Beach, and the Griffith Observatory.

The song’s refrain, “Spencer, Saca la Bassura” is an unmistakable play on the Mayor’s surname, “Bass.” The video is also targets the city’s infrastructure woes, mocking the “LAX Plane Train” and the delays surrounding the 2026 World Cup.

“Just lines, delays, we’re studying that, but every single pothole still attacks my tires flat,” the singer croons.

The video’s most provocative image isn’t just the crumbling infrastructure — it’s Pratt himself taking “cleaning up the streets” to a new level by manually pushing a dumpster through the streets of Hollywood, with Mayor Karen Bass sitting inside among the literal bags of trash. As he does so, a diverse crowd cheers in support.

The video features groups cheering on the “Spencer” character as he dances his way through the city’s problems. “All this mess, all this spin from Hollywood to City Hall, feels like the trash moved in,” the song declares.

In a scene that looks more like a block party than a political rally, Pratt and his wife Heidi are dancing a spirited salsa on a stage, with “Latinos por Pratt” branding behind them and people waving American and Mexican flags.

In the video, a mix of enthusiastic supporters clap along as Pratt gestures toward a podium emblazoned with the City of Los Angeles seal and a giant blue sign declaring “SPENCER FOR MAYOR 2026.”

recent Berkeley Institute of Governmental Studies/Los Angeles Times poll showed that Bass leads in the polls with just 25% of voter support, City Council member Nithya Raman at 17% and Pratt came in third at 14%.

Pratt has since reposted the video on his own social media channels.
