Cameron Brink isn't with the Los Angeles Sparks right now.

They're on the road to open the WNBA season, and their second-year forward stayed home due to injury.

The 6-foot-4 Brink underwent surgery on a torn left ACL in July 2024.

The Sparks do not have a timeline yet on Brink's return, coach Lynne Roberts told reporters Friday night.

Sparks fans got encouraging news, though, in what Roberts said next: "She looks great, and I'm incredibly proud of how hard she is working."

Brink was the No. 2 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft behind Caitlin Clark.

She played 15 games before her injury, averaging 21.9 minutes per night. She put up 7.5 points, 5.3 rebounds, 2.3 blocks, 1.7 assists and 1.1 steals per game.

Brink has the potential to be one of the most impactful frontcourt players in the entire WNBA.

First, she'll have to get back on the floor. Basketball fans everywhere are hoping her recovery finishes strong to get her back in action midway through this WNBA season.

The Sparks open the season Friday night at the Golden State Valkyries, the WNBA's newest team. Even without Brink, L.A. is favored to handle the Valkyries, who don't yet have a roster that appears ready to handle the WNBA's night in and night out rigors.
