VANCOUVER, British Columbia — Sonus Microsystems, a leader in innovative ultrasound technology, announced a partnership with Providence Health Care Ventures (PHCV) today, marking the first collaboration in PHCV’s Innovation Program. This partnership will accelerate the development, validation and commercialization of Sonus’ wearable ultrasound technology for cardiac monitoring.

Heart Failure (HF) is a chronic condition when the heart can’t pump blood well enough to provide a normal supply to the body. It is a leading cause of death and accounts for the highest rate of hospital readmissions compared to any other disease. It is estimated that 750,000 Canadians are living with heart failure with 100,000 new cases diagnosed every year.
