All eyes were on Cortina d'Ampezzo on Sunday morning, as Lindsey Vonn was racing in her signature event, the women's downhill. Vonn has made headlines in recent days, as she decided to continue to ski on a torn ACL she suffered on Jan. 30 in training.
Unfortunately, Vonn's Olympic dreams had a tragic end, as Vonn crashed just 13 seconds into her run. The crash did not appear to be related to her knee, as one of her poles clipped one of the netted gates, which sent her flying into the air.
Vonn did not finish, and was airlifted off to the course. Understandably, some of Vonn's U.S. ski teammates and hundreds of others reacted on social media to the news.

When I say that it was complete silent here at Tofane after Lindsey Vonn crashed, I am not overstating it. The only noise was the quiet drumbeats of the music played here for the crowd. People were dumbstruck.
