Carlos Alcaraz was first cheered briefly and then booed loudly on Thursday, November 13, at the ongoing ATP Finals in Turin, Italy during the Round Robin phase clash between Taylor Fritz and Alex de Minaur. Subsequently, several fans loyal to Alcaraz lashed out at those who booed him, accusing them of lacking class.

As the match between Fritz and de Minaur was going on, the giant screen at the Inalpi Arena showed Alcaraz walking into the venue's premises. This prompted cheers from fans, but the cheers soon turned into loud boos. The moment was shared in the form of a video by the official X (formerly Twitter) handle of Tennis TV, the official ATP Tour broadcasting and streaming platform.

The individual who shared the post on behalf of Tennis TV wrote a playful caption that read:

"When the Italian crowd realised what they’d done 🤣💀"

The Italian fans at the Inalpi Arena presumably began booing Carlos Alcaraz after they remembered that the Spaniard was set to face home hope Lorenzo Musetti later the same day. Another potential reason for the boos may have been Alcaraz's rivalry with the No. 1 Italian men's tennis player, Jannik Sinner.

Regardless of the reasons behind the boos, many Alcaraz fans on X were left fuming by the crowd's behavior. Some even called out the Tennis TV admin for the post's caption.

"Booing Carlos louder than they were cheering Musetti, Italians you are so shameless," one fan wrote. "Italians are the most classless people on earth smh," commented another. "Booing a player for doing nothing other than…checks notes….existing is always a bad look," another fan chimed in. "The Italian crowd booing Carlos Alcaraz for entering the tournament building and an official ATP account laughing about it. Very funny. Very classy. Great look," one stated rather sarcastically. "I really don't give a f**k about booing since it's a sport but why are u an official account posting about it and laughing??" asked one fan. "What they're doing isn't cool 😒 Come on Carlos shut them up ✊🏻," weighed in yet another fan.

Alcaraz eventually did shut the Italian fans up, as he routed Musetti in straight sets.

The match between Taylor Fritz and Alex de Minaur finished in the latter's favor, which meant that for Lorenzo Musetti to progress to the last four, the Italian simply had no option but to defeat Carlos Alcaraz. Unfortunately for Musetti, it wasn't to be, as Alcaraz produced a ruthless display to win the match 6-4, 6-1.

The Spaniard's win ensured that he finished at the summit of the Jimmy Connors Group and progressed to the semis along with de Minaur, with Fritz and Musetti biting the dust. From the other group, the Bjorn Borg Group, Jannik Sinner has already qualified for the semis, with the second place up for grabs.

Alcaraz's victory against Musetti also helped the Spaniard clinch the year-end World No. 1 crown, irrespective of who ultimately ends up with the title at the 2025 ATP Finals.
