“Saturday Night Live” mocked the new documentary about first lady Melania Trump and even made fun of her accent in a “Weekend Update” segment.
Colin Jost and Michael Che snickered like a couple of hyenas as they laced into the theatrical release of “Melania,” which chronicles the 20 days leading up to President Trump’s second inauguration.
“This week a documentary about Melania Trump debuted in theaters. It’s titled Wicked: For Real,” Jost said in a play on the smash-hit “Wicked: For Good” — to the delight of the easily amused studio audience.
The gag featured a green-tinged mock-up of the film’s poster featuring the first lady seated in a chair looking toward the camera.
The hosts also took potshots at Slovenian-born Trump’s accent and English language skills.
“Melania was directed by ‘Rush Hour’ director, Brett Ratner — which explains this scene,” he said as he cut to an edited clip from the 1998 hit comedy in which Chris Tucker frustratedly asks a super imposed Melania Trump in place of co-star Jackie Chan, “do you speak-a any English? Do you understand the words that are coming out of my mouth?”
“Melania” is the first feature film directed by Ratner since several women came forward in 2017 to accuse him of sexual harassment and sexual assault, allegations he denied.
He also appeared in several photos in the Epstein files, including one picture of him posing with Jean-Luc Brunel, a French modeling agent who allegedly scouted girls for Epstein found dead in his prison cell in Paris in 2022.
Amazon paid $75 million for the distribution rights to “Melania” — which grossed more than $7 million in its opening weekend, making it the best debut of a documentary in a decade.
