Skip Bayless makes bold Caitlin Clark prediction after Aliyah Boston injury scare

The Indiana Fever extended their winning streak Tuesday night, but the health of Aliyah Boston quickly overshadowed their 103-93 victory over the Seattle Storm. Boston exited during the second quarter after getting tangled with Storm rookie Flau’jae Johnson while attempting to catch a bounce pass from Caitlin Clark. The Fever center landed hard on her right knee and needed assistance leaving the court before heading to the locker room.

Indiana initially listed Boston as questionable to return, but she remained out for the rest of the game.

As concern grew around the four-time WNBA All-Star, longtime sports commentator Skip Bayless shared his reaction on social media. Bayless first expressed hope that Boston had avoided a serious injury before turning his attention to Clark and Indiana’s recent surge.

“Hoping Aliyah Boston is going to be OK,” Bayless wrote on X. “If she is, look out, here come the Fever as Caitlin Clark rises into the MVP race.”

Boston was enjoying an excellent start before suffering the injury. She scored 11 points on 4-of-7 shooting and grabbed two rebounds in 11 minutes. Her early departure left Indiana without one of its most important players, but Clark and Kelsey Mitchell provided more than enough offense to carry the Fever across the finish line.

Clark led all scorers with 32 points, seven assists and four rebounds in 33 minutes. She shot 9-of-14 from the field and knocked down four of her seven attempts from beyond the arc. Mitchell added 28 points, giving Indiana’s starting backcourt a combined 60 points in the victory.

The performance continued an impressive stretch for Clark, who has looked increasingly comfortable since coach Stephanie White removed the minutes restriction that followed her return from a back injury.

With Clark healthy and Indiana now riding a four-game winning streak, Bayless believes the star guard is beginning to force her way into the WNBA MVP conversation.

Stephanie White offers encouraging Boston update

Boston’s injury remains the Fever’s most immediate concern, but White provided an encouraging explanation for why the center did not return.

“No update other than, you know, wasn’t really worth the risk for us in the second half,” White told reporters. “Just want to be very conservative and make sure that she’s good to go.”

White’s comments suggest Indiana may have held Boston out as a precaution instead of responding to a confirmed serious injury. However, the Fever will likely evaluate her again before determining her availability for their next game. Boston is an essential part of Indiana’s championship hopes. Her interior scoring, rebounding and chemistry with Clark in the pick-and-roll give the Fever an element that would be difficult to replace for an extended period.

Bayless’ prediction also depends heavily on Boston remaining available. Clark may be capable of carrying a larger offensive burden, as she showed against Seattle, but Indiana is at its best when both of its former No. 1 overall picks are healthy. For now, the Fever can celebrate another road victory and Clark’s latest brilliant performance. If Boston’s injury proves to be minor, Bayless believes Indiana’s surge could be only the beginning.
