On Sunday night, the Philadelphia 76ers are set to look to extend their spotless record as they welcome the Detroit Pistons into the Xfinity Mobile Arena. There's an argument to be made that this could be the biggest challenge for the Sixers thus far, as they're set to be without Joel Embiid, who will miss out on the match for injury management.

While that absence was a part of Philadelphia's plan for the back-to-back match, VJ Edgecombe's potential absence wasn't.

Edgecombe downgraded due to a contusion

Sixers say VJ Edgecombe is now QUESTIONABLE tonight vs. Detroit. Abdominal contusion.

As reported by PhillyVoice's Adam Aaronson, Edgecombe has been listed as "questionable" for action against the Pistons due to an abdominal contusion.

The potential absence of Edgecombe would be a certain loss for Nick Nurse and the Sixers, as the second-year star has been a pivotal part of Philadelphia's early success this season, averaging 12.3 points and eight rebounds through the opening three games. What isn't reflected in Edgecombe's stat sheet this season is his leadership ability thus far, with him demonstrating it multiple times throughout the first week of action.

If the Bahamian star is to miss out, Nick Nurse has a few different ways to go for filling his minutes, with Anfernee Simons, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, and rookie Labaron Philon Jr. being all candidates to play in the backcourt.

Tip-off between the 76ers and Pistons is slated for 7:00 p.m. EST.
