R&B singer Trey Songz claimed he was the victim after getting busted for allegedly trashing a Manhattan hookah lounge early Sunday morning, newly released video of the arrest reveals.
“I didn’t touch anybody,” the 41-year-old performer says in the footage posted on Instagram by nyuncut_tv.
“Hey, bro, tell them I didn’t do nothing to nobody,” the singer, whose real name is Tremaine Aldon Neverson, says as he’s led to an NYPD squad car by a female officer. “I didn’t do nothing to nobody. They assaulted me. Miss, they assaulted me.”
An unidentified man is seen trying to reason with the cops to let the singer go.
“Nobody’s pressing charges,” the man is heard saying. “Tell him what he’s under arrest for.”
A woman is then heard screaming in the background, “He didn’t do nothing.”
The drama unfolded shortly before 4 a.m. Sunday, when Neverson allegedly caused $1,500 in damages to Mira Mediterranean Hookah Lounge on 34th Street after a scuffle broke out, prosecutors said.
Witnesses told police the incident came as “multiple individuals” got into a melee at the bar.
In one puzzling moment, the “Slow Motion” crooner tells cops, “They told me I’d get paid, and I’m not paid,” as he’s being handcuffed inside the lounge, the video shows.
In court later on Sunday, Neverson, who has three prior arrests, was charged with criminal mischief and was hit with unrelated assault charges for allegedly slugging an employee at Dramma Night Club in Times Square on Dec. 4, Manhattan prosecutors said.
In that case, prosecutors said he became “needlessly irate” and flew off the handle when the employee told him at around 4:25 a.m. that the club would be closing in a few minutes.
Neverson was released without bail in both incidents.
In a statement Sunday, the singer’s lawyer, Mitchell Schuster, said the Sunday morning incident was sparked by a patrons “who instigated a confrontation and attempted to surround him.
“His security intervened to protect him and contain the situation and an altercation occurred in the ensuing confusion,” Schuster said. “Despite being the target of the initial provocation, Trey was arrested.”
