Sidney Crosby golden goal is Team Canada's inspiration as NHL players return to Olympics

It's been a while since Sidney Crosby played in the Olympics for Team Canada.

For each of the past two Olympic cycles, NHL players weren't allowed at the Games. But this time around, for the first time since 2014, best-on-best is back.

The Pittsburgh Penguins legend hung on just long enough to make the roster again and have a chance to make an impact.

He's been clutch throughout his Olympics career, including a goal in the gold medal game in 2014.

But really, everyone remembers Crosby for his heroics in 2010.

Crosby won the 2010 Olympics with one shot for the gold medal.

It was overtime for Team Canada against the United States. And on a feed from Jarome Iginla, Crosby called game:

Crosby was already a known superstar at that point, but it was the kind of moment that really began to affirm him as a potential all-time great.

Here we are 16 years later, and Crosby is still going.

It'll be tough to top that golden moment. But if Canada is going to win another gold with Sid the Kid at his most veteran self, he'll likely have another special opportunity or two to make the most of. Knowing him, he won't miss.
