It's getting to be that time of year in the NFL's world: trade time. The NFL trade deadline is looming on Nov. 10, and now is about the time when teams really have to make hard decisions before it's too late.
One of those teams is the Philadelphia Eagles. They've had it rough this season, especially since franchise quarterback Jalen Hurts is out with blood clots. Now, running back Saquon Barkley is being floated as a serious trade target ahead of the November deadline.
Eagles could trade Saquon Barkley as NFL trade deadline approaches and teams seek running back help
In a feature released on Tuesday, Jared Dubin of CBS Sports discusses some trade options. One of them is the Eagles trading Barkley away, albeit in a complicated situation.
"Barkley's contract, with all the various option bonuses included, makes dealing with him somewhat financially complicated, but given the Eagles' struggles, his age, and the fact that teams are looking for explosiveness at running back these days, he makes sense as a target for needy teams," Dubin points out.
It's true that running back is a position that can make an offense absolutely on fire, so a lot of teams are interested in improving their running back room and would welcome a veteran like Barkley. The question is if the Eagles will get what they want for him.
"His current injury situation muddies the picture a bit, but that could be cleared up in the coming days and weeks as he gets further away from the hamstring pull," he adds.
Barkley recently said his hamstring situation is "great," according to ESPN, so that should add fuel to the fire of trade rumors. Whether or not it happens, he's certainly a player to watch.
