Should Rams' Matthew Stafford be MVP? Analysts give interesting vote

1 hour ago 2

The Los Angeles Rams' season didn't end the way the franchise had hoped, being dumped out in the NFC Championship game, but it might end well for Matthew Stafford.

The veteran quarterback had one of the best seasons of his career, at the ripe old age of 37, as he was one of the best players in football.

Having been in the thick of the MVP conversation with New England Patriots star Drake Maye, for most, it is a two-horse race.

Well, maybe not for NFL.com's analysts.

In a piece where all contributors gave their votes for the big-ticket awards for the end of the season, when it came to the MVP, Stafford won in a landslide, getting 22 votes out of a possible 27, with the other five votes going to Maye.

Should Stafford win MVP?

You can certainly make that case.

Stafford threw for 4,707 yards, 46 TDs, and just eight interceptions, while leading the Rams to a 12-5 record. That is a good resume.

Stafford led the league in passing yards and touchdowns, which is a superb feat, and for some, lends itself to being an MVP.

The 46 TDs and just eight interceptions, while throwing for 4,707 yards feels "MVP-ish" to us, and while Maye had a good season, his numbers don't come close to Stafford's, although he did win a few more games.

How the voters go will be interesting, but for NFL.com's analysts, the choice is an easy one.
