Los Angeles Dodgers two-way star Shohei Ohtani is living up to his $700 million contract by helping the club win the World Series in his first two seasons. He participated in the World Series championship parade in LA with his wife, Mamiko Tanaka.

During the Dodgers’ celebration, she appeared in photos alongside other players’ significant others, wearing a custom Dodgers jacket with her husband’s number. Dodgers reporter Kirsten Watson snapped the couple in a picture-perfect pose during the parade on the top of the bus.

Ohtani's wife, Tanaka, is a former professional Japanese basketball player. The couple tied the knot in 2024 and welcomed their first child, a daughter, in April 2025.

Ohtani played a significant role in making the Dodgers back-to-back champions. He played 158 games as a designated hitter, hitting 55 home runs, 102 RBIs with a .282 batting average. Meanwhile, on the pitching front, he recorded 62 strikeouts against just nine walks, while recording an ERA of 2.87.

Even in the postseason, the two-way star had big games, like in the NLCS Game 4, where he pitched six scoreless innings and hit three home runs as well. Moreover, in World Series Game 3, he went 4-for-4 at the plate, hitting four home runs and drawing a World Series record five walks.

Shohei Ohtani's special message to LA fans in English during championship parade

Shohei Ohtani very rarely speaks in English in public occasions but on Monday during the championship parade, he addressed the crowd in English.

Ohtani, who rode atop one of the double-decker buses along the parade route with his teammates, acknowledged the thousands of fans lining the streets.

“Hello, hello. I want to say I am so proud of this team, and I want to say you guys are the greatest fans in the world,” Ohtani said. “And I’m ready to get another ring next year. Let’s go.”

During the parade, Ohtani was interviewed by Spectrum SportsNet LA. The reporter asked if winning a three-peat is a possibility. The three-time MVP confidently said:

“I’m already thinking about the third time we’re going to do this,” Ohtani replied through an interpreter.

It remains to be seen if Ohtani and the Dodgers complete a rare three-peat in MLB World Series.
