While there was no telling where Shedeur Sanders would land in the 2025 NFL draft, the expectation was that he'd go somewhere in Round 1. Yeah, about that.
Despite multiple quarterback-needy teams having a crack at Sanders in the first round, he did not go off the board. Adding insult to injury, the New York Giants traded back into the first round and took Jaxson Dart instead.
Now, Sanders enters Day 2 of the 2025 NFL draft without a home, but that might not last long. In a new mock draft from CBS Sports' Chris Trapasso, he has the Las Vegas Raiders ending Sanders' slide with the No. 37 overall pick.
"Super-cozy landing spot for Sanders, with Tom Brady's team, learning behind Geno Smith for a season or two in Las Vegas," Trapasso wrote.
The Raiders have been linked to Sanders as a possible landing spot since last year, but that projection for the No. 6 pick pretty much went by the wayside after the team traded for Geno Smith.

However, even though quarterback isn't as dire of a need as it was with Smith in the fold, the Raiders could still use a quarterback. Smith is set to turn 35 and can be cut after the 2026 season, so he isn't likely to be a long-term solution.
If the Raiders are keen on getting Sanders at No. 37, their ability to do so will depend upon what the Cleveland Browns do.
The Browns opted not to take a quarterback in the first round and now have a pair of picks ahead of the Raiders in Round 2 following their Day 1 trade with the Jacksonville Jaguars, which netted the AFC South squad Travis Hunter.
It's very possible the Browns will spring for Sanders to begin Day 2, but there's also a chance they view Alabama's Jalen Milroe as the better prospect, which would lead to Sanders falling into the Raiders' lap.
Either way, the Raiders should have a crack at Milroe or Sanders with their first pick on Day 2. Whether or not they spring for them remains to be seen.
