Shedeur Sanders gets interesting Cleveland Browns update after team decided to hire Todd Monken

Quarterback development will be the talk of the offseason for the Cleveland Browns under new head coach Todd Monken, especially with all of the options the Browns can go with. The Browns had multiple quarterbacks under center a year ago, and none of them did the job.

Daniel Oyefusi of ESPN highlighted how Shedeur Sanders will factor into Cleveland’s offensive future, even if his rookie season didn’t go as planned.

Even with the organization evaluating the position in the draft, Monken’s hiring was tied in part to his impressive quarterback history.

“Even as general manager Andrew Berry had said that Cleveland would explore its quarterback options this offseason, part of Monken's appeal was his ability to work with the team's current group of quarterbacks – Sanders, Deshaun Watson and Dillon Gabriel – and meld his scheme to their differing skill sets,” Oyefusi wrote.

For Sanders, this should offer him an opportunity to develop in a system fixed to maximize his strengths rather than dealing with what he had to do last year. It’s also important to bring up the fact that Cleveland needs more talent around any option, so that needs to be a priority this summer.

Sanders was OK at times in his rookie season, but far from good. He has a lot to learn and will have an easier time doing so if he can get up to speed and have a better coach.
