Influencer Tanner Martin Laid to Rest After Announcing His Own Death
Shay Martin is beginning a new chapter.
Just over a year after her late husband Tanner Martin announced his own death at age 30, the grief influencer has announced that she has remarried a man named Hunter.
Detailing their nuptials, Shay said they enjoyed an intimate ceremony attended by only the two of them. In each of their vows, the couple paid tribute to Tanner, with Hunter saying he “would want to get to know” the late social media star.
And though she’s starting a new chapter with Hunter, it’s been difficult to wrap her head around.
“I cried a whole lot,” Shay told Today in an interview published Aug. 5. “I didn’t get divorced from Tanner. I still loved him, and I was always going to love him.”
And the 30-year-old—mom to 14-month-old daughter AmyLou Martin with Tanner—has been open about the mixed emotions she has felt finding love again.
She reflected on her romantic journey in an update for her followers, emphasizing that Tanner—who battled colon cancer for over five years—communicated his wishes for her future as he reached the end of his life.
“One of the greatest hopes Tanner had,” Shay shared in an Instagram Reel on Aug. 3, “was that I would find someone who would love AmyLou as his own and honor the life Tanner and I built together.”
Explaining that Hunter “never asked me to leave Tanner behind,” Shay expressed her gratitude in finding a partner who would allow her to keep her late husband’s memory alive.

“Moving forward is not the same as moving on,” she stressed. “If you’ve never lost a spouse, I don’t expect you to understand, but I hope you’ll allow widows and widowers to tell you what that experience is actually like.”
While she never expected to remarry after Tanner’s death, she admitted that her mindset on love after loss has evolved. As she has navigated her grief journey, her and Tanner’s loved ones have been supportive every step of the way.
“I changed and decided there is enough love to give,” she concluded. “You can never run out of love, and I will never graduate from grief.”
