South Carolina's LaNorris Sellers is out there proving why he is touted as a top Heisman pick in 2025 and a top QB in the 2026 NFL Draft. Sellers hears the noise, but instead focuses on bettering himself and his team: textbook quality of a good team leader.
He could enjoy his summer break vacationing, but Sellers is instead helping the freshman players out in getting accustomed to the Gamecocks' culture, especially during the unsupervised sessions this summer.
"Yeah, we probably did do it more (last year) just because they’re freshmen. I think we had more older guys last year. We had freshmen coming in, so we just got to do it more, make sure they understand why we do things," Sellers said after the spring game, per Post and Courier. "Understand like reading coverages or routes, bringing flat, keep them high. Make sure to come back to the ball, curve off, stuff like that."
Reportedly, the QB also plans on assembling his wide receiving corps outside of the scheduled workouts "to work out on their own, fine-tuning routes, cuts and most of all, chemistry."
This would fine-tune the QB-WR rapport building since South Carolina has brought in another bumper receiving corps this season, now that Josh Simon is gone.
"I just want to focus on the little things, like footwork, assisting, like I said earlier. Just being more patient, anticipation, stuff like that," he added. "Just the small details."
This is just one of the reasons head coach Shane Beamer is utterly confident in the guy whom he has handed the leadership reins to.
"LaNorris has done a great job of leading, and that’s one thing we’ve talked to him about, is really taking everything by the reins this summer," Beamer said.
"The steps they can take in the summertime are key because they’re together."
