After all that, Harry and Meghan are returning to England.
It’s a hell of a reversal.
In 2020, the pair not only bid goodbye to the country and their official royal roles, they took a flame thrower to everything they had left behind — reserving extra gasoline for Harry’s family.
The whole place wasn’t safe for them. The media was trying to get them killed, they claimed over the years. And the House of Windsor was made up of bigots upholding institutional racism.
After such a fuss, one might feel at least a wee bit of shame moving back.
The shameless Sussexes, however, are incapable of such self-reflection, as we were reminded Wednesday when the pair announced they would be leaving California for the UK.
I fully expect that, like AOC, they might chalk it up to “Woke 1 was crazy.“
After all, Harry and Meghan are the perfect avatars for the era defined by illiberal group think, BLM and DEI — elevated not just for their willingness to spill state secrets but because of their racial grievances and embrace of victimhood.
Upon their arrival in North America — and their campaign to take down the British royal family in favor of creating their own rival institution — the Sussexes were lavished with praise and resources from the likes of Tyler Perry, who loaned them a luxurious place to stay and Oprah, who gave them primetime access to exact their revenge on the institution that didn’t indulge their every whim.
Every possible door was flung open for them and a red carpet promptly rolled out. The duo reportedly signed a $60 million deal with Netflix and a Spotify one worth $25 million.
Meghan launched her self-righteous “Archetypes” podcast. Harry wrote his whinging memoir, “Spare.”
In a stunning f-you to Queen Elizabeth as her husband, Prince Philip, was then on death’s door, Markle, who is biracial, complained to Oprah that her in-laws questioned how dark her unborn son’s skin would be. She also falsely claimed that the child, Archie, was denied a title like his cousins. (Why one would want their son to have a title from a racist family is beyond me.)
For their “work” on racial justice, Harry and Meghan were given the Robert F. Kennedy Ripple of Hope Award.
All this while declaring they just wanted privacy, dammit.
As for the Oprah interview, so much of it was either provably false or stretching credulity. But at the time — the spring of 2021 — even questioning a woman of color was asking for a public flogging. Capitulate to anti-racist dogma or else.
When Piers Morgan called Meghan “Princess Pinocchio,” it led to a clash with his “Good Morning Britain” co-host. He was told he would need to apologize. Instead, he walked from his job.
Sharon Osbourne came to his defense and was accused of bigotry and cast off “The Talk.”
As media and entertainment came apart at the seams for these grifters, most thing they touched were a bust.
Netflix gave Meghan a lifestyle show where her tips included opening a bag of store-bought snacks and loading them into another plastic bag. It was canceled after two seasons. Her podcast, “Confessions of a Female Founder,” also went bye-bye — her second to suffer such a fate.
Not only could the couple not find a hit, they couldn’t hold onto staff. Thus, the “Sussex Survivors’ Club” was born.
The point is, they weren’t just handed the opportunity to make their own American dream through hard work and talent. They were handed the whole damn thing on a silver platter.
Still they fumbled it all: money, influence, goodwill. It’s almost impressive.
Like countless others propped up by DEI for the purpose of virtue signaling, Harry and Meghan just didn’t have the skills, the vision or the chops to sustain it.
A source told Page Six Hollywood the family is “spending more time [in England] this fall after a lovely visit this summer. They want their kids to experience more of it and to spend more time with extended family and friends.”
That’s one way to spin it.
Sadly, King Charles is ailing with cancer.
Harry and Meghan are clearly launching a last-minute bid to get their feet in the door just before it closes on them for good.
After selling their family secrets to the highest bidder, now they want to be back into the fold.
It’s almost like they were full of it all along.
