Shakira cannot get enough of what she saw on the pitch Wednesday.
The Colombian singer and songwriter took to Instagram on Thursday to praise Lionel Messi and Argentina following their stunning 2-1 comeback win over England that punched their ticket to the World Cup final.
On her story, Shakira posted a photo of Messi and wrote, “What @leomessi is doing is beyond extraordinary! It shows the values of a man who is deeply committed and disciplined, challenging time and all odds. Proving that a person is not defined by age or what others say.
“And I know that having a women like @antonelaroccuzzo [Messi’s wife] by his side gives him the strength and inspiration to prove that!”
Shakira wrote the official song of the 2026 World Cup “Dai Dai” and will perform during the halftime show on Sunday at MetLife Stadium, along with Madonna and Justin Bieber.
She and all soccer fans witnessed an undeniable performance from the 39-year-old and Argentina, who are attempting to win back-to-back World Cup titles.
After a scoreless first half, England punched first in the second half to lead 1-0.
However, Argentina wasn’t going away and in the end they scored two goals — one with five minutes left in regulation and one in stoppage time — to take the win.

It was Messi’s two assists that made the magic.
He found Enzo Fernández, who ripped a shot to Jordan Pickford’s right to tie the game in the 85th minute.
Later, his cross across the box found Lisandro Martínez’s head for the game-winning goal.
In victory, Messi sank to his knees and stared up through Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
His wife, Antonela Roccuzzo, posted a photo of him to her Instagram story and wrote “What a great pride!!!!! 🙌🙌🙌🙌 love youuuu @leomessi.” The two have known each other since growing up in Rosario, Argentina.
It’s unknown if this World Cup will be the legendary player’s last as he will be 43 by the time the next one rolls around in 2030.
Additionally, his is contracted through 2028 in MLS.
Messi has a shot to win the Golden Boot since he’s tied with Kylian Mbappé with eight goals, and two clear of England stars Jude Bellingham and Harry Kane.
However, that won’t be decided until after the World Cup final against Spain set for Sunday at 3 p.m. ET.
Still, he can be certain Shakira is in his corner.
