Ghislaine Maxwell is preparing to ask the Trump administration to commute her sex trafficking sentence, House Democrats said Monday — days after Jeffrey Epstein’s madam gushed about how happy she was in her cushy new federal lockup.
Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee told President Trump in a letter on Monday that the convicted sex trafficker was “undoubtedly coming to you for your direct consideration,” CBS reported.
Maxwell, whose 20-year sentence for helping Epstein sexually abuse underage girls isn’t up until 2037, laid out the plans in emails with her lawyer, which were later leaked and obtained by the House Judiciary Committee.
She is said to be working directly with the prison’s warden to gather and print all the documents needed for the commutation application, House Democrats said.
The information indicated that Maxwell was likely “requesting you release her from her 20-year prison sentence for her role as a co-conspirator in Jeffrey Epstein’s international child sex trafficking ring,” the letter, signed by by Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD), said.
The development comes just days after other leaked emails showed Maxwell apparently boasting about how much “happier” she was after being moved to the minimum-security Federal Prison Camp Bryan in Texas in August.
“I feel like I have dropped through Alice in Wonderlands looking glass,” Maxwell wrote in one exchange with a relative.
“I am much much happier here and more importantly safe.”
In the letter to Trump, the House Democrats alleged Maxwell was getting “favorable concierge-style treatment” at the cushy facility.
“Federal law enforcement staff working at the camp have been waiting on Ms Maxwell hand and foot,” the letter stated, adding that her customized meals are hand-delivered to her cell.
Maxwell was moved to the Camp Bryan lockup just days after a meeting with Trump’s Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche to discuss the Epstein case.
The Supreme Court has already rejected Maxwell’s attempt to appeal her criminal conviction.
