Seth Rollins recently broke character to open up about Cody Rhodes' return to WWE. The Visionary claimed that The American Nightmare inked the deal with the Stamford-based promotion very close to the eventual return.

Cody Rhodes came back to WWE in April 2022 as Seth Rollins' mystery opponent at WrestleMania 38. He had left the global juggernaut in 2016 due to creative differences. After departing from WWE, Rhodes reinvented himself on the independent scene before co-founding All Elite Wrestling in 2019 and becoming one of the top stars in the business.

Seth Rollins, amid his absence due to injury, made an appearance on Games With Names. While speaking about Rhodes' return to WWE, the former World Heavyweight Champion noted that he did not know about it until the middle of March.

"He had been gone for six years. […] When did I find out about this? I do Royal Rumble. I wrestled Roman Reigns at the Royal Rumble. After that, there were some conversations about matches. I would say I didn’t know about Cody for sure until the middle of March," Rollins said.

Seth Rollins added that there were still doubts about whether Cody Rhodes was officially coming back even two weeks before The Show of Shows. He added that it was a well-kept secret backstage.

"I would say WrestleMania is in April, and so we had like maybe a month of lead time knowing Cody was for sure coming. And even till like the two weeks before, I remember being like, 'Do we have his signature on a piece of paper? [Do] we know this is what we're going to do?' And it was very top secret. There were very few people that knew about what was going on," Rollins added.

Cody Rhodes wrestled another champion at a recent WWE event

Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes locked horns with NXT Champion Oba Femi last weekend at Saturday Night's Main Event. The two stars kicked off the show with an engaging back-and-forth bout.

Unfortunately, the match ended in a no contest as Drew McIntyre entered the squared circle to attack archrival Cody Rhodes. However, it did not end well for The Scottish Warrior, as the two champions took him out.

Over the weekend, @CodyRhodes started a brawl at @DMcIntyreWWE's home while Drew was meeting with #SmackDown GM @RealNickAldis...

Although things went south for Drew McIntyre at the show, he is likely to challenge Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship one more time. It will be intriguing to see if he can finally dethrone The American Nightmare.
