In this series, we take a look at each team and see what they've done over the offseason. Next up is the St. Louis Blues.
Key additions: Pius Suter, Nick Bjugstad, Logan Mailloux
The Blues landed one of the most coveted free agent forwards in Pius Suter who had a career year with the Vancouver Canucks this past season. Nick Bjugstad adds more depth up front. Mailloux is a promising young defenseman for the backend.
Key subtractions: Radek Faksa, Zack Bolduc, Ryan Suter, Torey Krug
The Blues lost top penalty killer Radek Faksa as he returns to his old home in Dallas. The Zack Bolduc trade is a curious one as the young forward had a solid season with the squad last year. Ryan Suter will probably retire and Torey Krug's career is likely done due to injuries.
Highest draft pick: Justin Carbonneau, 19th overall
Salary cap space: $625k
Staff: Blues GM Doug Armstrong will be bringing back head coach Jim Montgomery next year after he did a tremendous job taking over midseason taking the team to the playoffs with a hot finish after what was a slow start under Drew Bannister. St. Louis will look to make further progress in Montgomery's second year with the club and what will be his first full season.
Other: The Blues' Jordan Kyrou has been routinely involved in trade chatter around the league. According to Frank Seravalli, his name remains on the trade block with teams trying to convince him to waive his no move clause.
