7 hours ago 1

In this series, we take a look at each team and see what they've done over the offseason. Next up is the San Jose Sharks.

Key additions: Jeff Skinner, Philip Kurashev, Adam Gaudette, Ryan Reaves, John Klingberg, Dmitri Orlov, Nick Leddy, Shane Bowers, Alex Nedeljkovic, Jakub Skarek

The Sharks have been a busy team this summer using the plethora of cap space they have to bring in veteran support to help supplement this youthful roster in an attempt to take a step forward next season. Jeff Skinner is the most intriguing addition as he will play a greater role on this Sharks team, likely slotting into the top 6. Kurashev and Gaudette are a couple darts at a board potential hits on the offensive front. Ryan Reaves will add some much needed grit and sandpaper. San Jose also made a sea of vet additions to what will be a new look blueline. Nedeljkovic will backup Askarov as he has been handed the keys to the starting goalie position.

Key subtractions: Marc-Edouard Vlasic, Klim Kostin, Nikolai Kovalenko, Noah Gregor, Thomas Bordeleau, Henry Thrun, Jan Rutta, Walker Duehr, Jimmy Schuldt, Alex Georgiev

The Sharks bought out long time franchise cornerstone Marc-Edouard Vlasic. Otherwise, mostly depth pieces have been on the move.

Highest draft pick: Michael Misa, 2nd overall

Misa could slot into the NHL lineup right away next season and be a Calder threat. It is also possible he could go the college route and wait a year.

Salary cap space: $19.7 million

Staff: Sharks GM Mike Grier will be bringing back head coach Ryan Warsofsky and his staff for a 2nd season as San Jose continue to navigate this rebuild during what will likely be another tank season. The squad has finished last in the NHL the last 2 seasons.

Other: The Sharks also extended core piece William Eklund this offseason. Despite all these moves they still have plenty of cap available, but one would have to think they are done adding to this crowded roster.
