One woman’s decision to sit on another man’s lap caused an all-out war at one of Beverly Hills’ fanciest steakhouses, according to two women involved directly in the spat.
According to the women, who spoke with TMZ, the evening began peacefully enough. One of them struck up a conversation with men seated at a nearby table after hearing them speak Arabic.
Things took an unexpected turn when one of the men reportedly offered to pick up the women’s tab.
That’s when another woman allegedly made her way over to the table and, according to the women, promptly parked herself on one of the men’s laps.
Because apparently this was no longer simply dinner.
When the men were preparing to leave, one reportedly asked the ladies to have the woman get off his friend’s lap. They say they relayed the message.
And then, they claim, the hair started flying.
The women allege the other female approached from behind and began swinging and yanking hair, prompting punches in response.
They deny that the woman was ganged up on, saying she was briefly put in handcuffs by police but ultimately released.
The explanation comes after a video obtained by TMZ of the chaotic confrontation inside the high-end steakhouse went viral.
Footage showed the two women locked in a full-blown wrestling match in the middle of the dining room, pulling each other’s hair, throwing punches and kicks and trading insults as stunned diners looked on.
One spectator could be heard enthusiastically declaring, “Oh my god, I love this,” proving that apparently even a $82 filet can’t compete with free dinner theater.
The women were dressed to the nines as the fight spilled across the restaurant floor. At one point, one woman appeared to be bleeding from her head as an employee tried to get her outside.
Another employee attempted to intervene, only to have her hand slapped away as the chaos continued.
The brawl even prompted one diner to marvel, “I wasn’t expecting this when I came here.”
Steak 48 bills itself as an upscale fine-dining destination offering “handcrafted cuisine” and an “elevated atmosphere.” Although, the viral footage delivered considerably more combat than the restaurant’s website probably had in mind.
The Beverly Hills steakhouse offers plenty of pricey options, including an eye-watering $295 bone-in Wagyu tomahawk and a $135 bone-in ribeye.
The women involved say they wish their fellow fighter well, but don’t expect this particular group to be dining together again anytime soon.
Fair enough. Some dinner reservations are best left in the past.
