We've been on a fashion ride with Lady Gaga for 20 years and we have a million reasons why we never want to get off.
Of Course Lady Gaga Makes a Statement in Feathered Gown at Grammys 2026
It's no small feat to stand out on the Grammys red carpet—or at any music awards show, for that matter—as it tends to be fashion's most devil-may-care night.
Enter Lady Gaga in an egg.
The "Abracadabra" singer showed up to the 2011 show in an ovoid carriage, barely visible through the cloudy, Alien-reminiscent exterior.
"We would call this an outfit,” Gaga mused to British Vogue about the all-encompassing ensemble. “Everyone calls this the egg but it’s actually a vessel that was designed by Hussein Chalayan.”
She was held aloft by several handlers clad in nude latex. As she said, “I was very particular about the way the fashion looked for this performance," and she would have nothing but latex.
"A bus company had latex that they were using to cover the seats of their busses and we found the latex and we asked if we could buy it from them," she recalled. "So everybody’s fashion that’s made here was made from the fabric from seats for a bus."
Gaga later hatched on stage, revealing her own yolk-colored 'fit.
But how else was she going to top her meat dress?!
Celebrating her 40th birthday March 28, Gaga (born Stefani Germanotta) has never expected anyone to be able to maintain a poker face when it comes to her style choices.

From the all-beef dress she wore to the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards—"Everyone just saw pork," she told the Financial Times. "It wasn't pork! It was prime rib and plain steak"—to her four costume changes on the pink carpet at the 2019 Met Gala, Gaga is a walking gallery of statement pieces.
“I’m not interested in fashion being functional for everyday life,” she told British Vogue in 2021. “It’s about being functional for art. I love becoming art.”
But no need to head to a museum to see a Mother Monster exhibit.

"When music and fashion and the moment collide to create something that feels true and real—it's not about adhering to a vibe necessarily," Gaga, engaged to Michael Polansky, explained to Elle last year. "It's about something being an actual reflection of who we are. Art is a lot of things and that's part of the joy of it to me— that it could be whatever I want."
Hence her feeling "really at ease about fashion and clothes," she reflected. "For me, I'm at a place in my life where I just want to feel like myself in clothes. Whatever that means. So if that's changing, I just want to go with that feeling."
