The beef between the SEC and Big Ten just got spicier.
As these two conferences have grown to become the two main powers in college football, there is no shortage of animosity between them. Many SEC coaches, fans and players have criticized the Big Ten's strength of schedule, especially following Indiana's CFP berth last season ahead of Alabama, Ole Miss and South Carolina. Vanderbilt quarterback Diego Pavia just became the latest to do so.
Pavia went on the "Bussin' With the Boys" Podcast recently and shared his experience with NIL offers he received from other schools this off-season, and he had some strong words for the schools in the Big Ten that reached out to him.
“You want to play with the best - you don’t want to play with the Big Ten. … You ignore those calls,” Pavia said.
Though the Big Ten is a conference with teams like Penn State, Oregon, Ohio State and Michigan - the latter two taking home the 2024 and 2025 National Championships - Pavia did not think highly of the rest of the conference.
“The SEC is, like, nothing. Like, okay, the Big Ten, you have Ohio State, Oregon … the SEC, it’s like week after week," Pavia continued. "You’re going to get beat on. The Big Ten, you’re not gonna get beat on with the Purdue, Nebraskas.”
Pavia will have a chance to put his money where his mouth is with the Commodores taking road trips to South Carolina, Alabama, Texas, and Tennessee this season
