NBA expansion is inevitable.
Several factors play into how long it takes for the ball to get rolling, but any step taken is a step closer.
When the words 'NBA expansion' are mentioned, it's almost always linked with the city of Seattle.
Could Seattle be getting an NBA team sooner rather than later?
NBA writer David Aldridge reported, "The NBA’s Board of Governors will meet in Las Vegas today. And expansion will be among the discussion items on the agenda."
It sounds encouraging, but Aldridge said, "the league’s new media rights deal may be slowing momentum to add two new teams."
It appears that expansion is inevitable, but the exact timeline isn't known yet.
NBA commissioner Adam Silver has recently said that it's something they want to look into this summer, and when you hear Silver say that, you know there's some serious momentum being built around expansion.

There's so much talent in the NBA that it only makes sense to add a couple of teams to the NBA.
It has been over 20 years since a new team was added to the NBA.
There are cities like Seattle that would love to have a team back in their city, after already having the SuperSonics there, almost two decades ago.
Seattle and the state of Washington have produced many notable NBA players over the past couple of decades, including Jamal Crawford, Isaiah Thomas, Paolo Banchero, Dejounte Murray and several others.
Seeing the growth of the game in that area, since the Sonics moved to OKC and became the Thunder, is a great selling point when making the case for a team to return there.
The CrawsOver Pro Am league is a great example of what players like Jamal Crawford have done for the game of basketball in Seattle and Washington.

Just a few years ago, he was able to get LeBron James, Jayson Tatum and Chet Holmgren to participate in a pro-am game during the offseason.
This drew a huge crowd to the event, showing their support for the league and the players involved.
NBA analyst Kevin O'Connor posted, "Seattle 100% deserves a franchise, whether it’s from expansion or moving a team there."
Although the meetings in Las Vegas might not guarantee expansion happening in the next couple of years, it could help get closer to an eventual timeline where expansion does occur in a few years.
