Seahawks urged to re-sign most obvious free agent after Super Bowl run

After winning Super Bowl 60, the Seahawks and general manager John Schneider have a lot of work to do this offseason.

While they have a lot of cap space and their draft picks, the Seahawks have a lot of players hitting free agency and positions they need to fill.

But, of their outgoing free agents, Zachary Pereles of CBS Sports urged the Seahawks to pick one player, the most obvious one, as the target to re-sign before all other free agents. That player? Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker.

Seahawks urged to re-sign Kenneth Walker after Super Bowl MVP

"Kenneth Walker III was the Super Bowl MVP, putting the icing on a tremendous postseason," Pereles writes. "No Super Bowl MVP has played for a different team the next season in over two decades. With Zach Charbonnet coming off a torn ACL, the Seahawks should make Walker, 25, a priority."

Seattle has a lot of free agents it could consider signing this offseason. Boye Mafe, Tariq Woolen, Josh Jobe, Rashid Shaheed, and Coby Bryant are a few of the biggest free agents to consider re-signing.

But none of those options are as important for the Seahawks to re-sign this offseason as Walker. As Pereles notes, no Super Bowl MVP the last two decades has ever been on a different team the following season.

The Seahawks have no reason to become the team to break that streak. Even if Charbonnet were fully healthy, the Seahawks should still re-sign Walker to a long-term deal this offseason.

He's a franchise legend after his Super Bowl performance and overall playoff performance, which featured 313 rushing yards, four touchdowns, and 104 receiving yards on nine receptions across three playoff games.

Re-signing Walker is the obvious top priority, and until he re-signs with Seattle, he will continue to top the list of the Seahawks offseason priorities. Walker is a must-have for Seattle and should be back for the 2026 season.
