Seahawks Pro Bowl CB receives huge $125.5 million contract projection

The Seattle Seahawks won Super Bowl 60 in dominant fashion, and in the subsequent offseason, they lost a few key players in Kenneth Walker, Coby Bryant, Boye Mafe, and Riq Woolen.

But, they brought back Rashid Shaheed, and also extended Jaxon Smith-Njigba to a massive new contract. John Schneider isn't done yet, though, as he has one more player to work out a huge extension with.

This Pro Bowl cornerback, who was incredible in the Super Bowl for Seattle, received a massive contract projection from Bleacher Report's Kristopher Knox. This projected contract would have Devon Witherspoon singing a four-year $125.5 million contract.

Seahawks' Devon Witherspoon gets $125.5M contract projection

"The representatives of Witherspoon and Gonzalez will likely look to get the cornerbacks very similar deals," Knox writes. "However, whoever signs second is likely to set the new benchmark due to the next-man-up nature of NFL contracts. Contract Projection: Four years, $125.5 million."

This mammoth projection for Witherspoon, of a four-year, $125.5 million contract, would not be that big of a surprise for the three-time Pro Bowler.

Christian Gonzalez is likely to receive a similar extension, with both players represented by WIN Sports Group. It's hard to believe that one will receive a significantly larger deal than the other, unless one signs a deal well after the other.

For Witherspoon, the Seahawks likely want to work out a deal to keep him around for a long time. He's an incredible cornerback, and with Woolen leaving in free agency, the Seahawks need to keep at least one of their star corners around long-term.

The 25-year-old former first-round pick from 2023 is eligible to sign a deal this offseason, and Schneider and Witherspoon's representatives are likely meeting about a possible deal.

It's going to be very expensive and will likely set the record for the largest deal for a cornerback in NFL history. A $125.5 million deal would certainly do just that, as the current record is Trent McDuffie with a $124 million deal with the Los Angeles Rams.

Witherspoon is likely to beat that mark, and this $125.5 million projection, while massive, isn't actually that bad. He's a great cornerback who is just starting an elite NFL career. A massive deal like this is worth it, especially after a Super Bowl win.
