The Seattle Seahawks dominated the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Divisional round, winning 41-6 in a blowout of epic proportions.
Not only did they begin the game with a kick-return touchdown, but the Seahawks also forced multiple turnovers and ran all over the 49ers' defense.
All in all, this was one of the more dominant games in NFL history. And as OptaSTATS noted on Twitter/x, this performance from the Seahawks accomplished six impressive feats all in one game for the first time by any team in NFL history, playoffs or regular season.
Seahawks make NFL history with six-phase domination of 49ers
"Tonight the Seahawks scored 40+ points, rushed for 150+ yards, had 0 turnovers, allowed 0 TDs, had fewer than 10 penalty yards, and scored a special-teams TD," OptaSTATS shared. "No other team in NFL history has done all of that in any game, regular season or playoffs."
On special teams, the opening kick-return touchdown set the tone and was technically all the team needed to do to beat the 49ers.
But the offense came to play. They scored the other 34 points to give the Seahawks the 41-point performance. While Sam Darnold didn't need to do much, he threw for 124 yards and a touchdown with no turnovers.
Kenneth Walker III ran all over the 49ers, scoring three touchdowns and going for 116 yards, with 27 yards from Shaheed, 20 from Zach Charbonnet, and 10 from Velus Jones Jr., and two from AJ Barner on a QB sneak.
Along with the great special teams and offensive play, the Seattle defense didn't allow any touchdowns, holding the 49ers to just six points on two field goals. They also forced three turnovers, two fumbles, and one interception.
And last, but not least, the Seahawks, as a team, on offense, special teams, and on defense, were only penalized twice for a total of five yards.
It was a clean domination of the 49ers in every phase of the game. No team in NFL history has had such a dominant game, as this 41-6 blowout made NFL history, regardless of whether it was the playoffs or the regular season.
