The Seattle Seahawks may have already found their eventual successor to Sam Darnold, as the team used the No.92 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, acquired from the Las Vegas Raiders in the Geno Smith trade, on Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe.
Milroe had a dynamic 2024 campaign with the Crimson Tide, as he tallied 16 passing touchdowns and also added 20 scores on the ground. The 22-year-old isn't fully developed as a passer, but his athleticism and dual-threat abilities make him an exciting talent at the next level.
Obviously, if Milroe wants to become a consistent starting quarterback in the NFL, he must become a more refined pocket passer. As a result, the electric signal-caller will be using virtual reality to help him better read defenses and go through progressions.
Washington Commanders star quarterback Jayden Daniels also used virtual reality ahead of his rookie season in 2024, and the Offensive Rookie of the Year stated that it helped him develop as a quarterback.
"Me and my new head coach [Mike Macdonald], we talked about doing that. So, from now until Game 1, I'm going to utilize [virtual reality]," Milroe said on Friday about the use of virtual reality in quarterback training.
Milroe won't be placed into a starting role immediately, so he'll have time to grow as a quarterback and should learn a lot from Darnold, who is coming off a career year in 2024 with the Minnesota Vikings and signed a three-year deal with the Seahawks this offseason.
However, it's nice to see that Milroe isn't wasting any time to improve his game and get ready for a potential chance to be a starter in the future.
