The Seattle Seahawks have made the Super Bowl and are going up against the New England Patriots. The defense is great for Seattle, but the offense might be one of the biggest storylines.
Sam Darnold, once labeled a bust with the New York Jets, has turned his career around and was a huge reason the Seahawks made it to the Super Bowl. But Darnold wasn't alone, as offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak has been imperative to Seattle's success.
There is one downside: Kubiak is a strong head coach candidate. A report from ESPN's Adam Schefter, which revealed a major coaching decision from the Denver Broncos' Davis Webb, is bad news for the Seahawks in keeping Kubiak as OC after this year.
Seahawks get bad news on Klint Kubiak from Broncos
"Broncos passing game coordinator Davis Webb is withdrawing from consideration from the Raiders head coaching job, per source," Schefter reports.
This report is a big one for the Seahawks. With the Las Vegas Raiders no longer having the option to hire Webb, Kubiak is, by far, the best option they could hire this offseason.
Seattle's offense, if they wind up losing Kubiak, will be a major question mark next season. He helped spark the turnaround, and if he's gone, the Seahawks offense will be in a precarious spot.
Winning the Super Bowl would help overcome the negative feelings of losing Kubiak, but ideally, he doesn't leave this offseason.
But, Webb pulling his name out of consideration for the Raiders job means that Tom Brady and the Raiders ownership will focus solely on bringing Kubiak to their team.
He's the best head coaching candidate still available, and this Webb news is a major update on the coaching market. He was a strong option for the Raiders, and now, he's off the market.
This is some bad news for the Seahawks, as Kubiak is, by far, the best option for the Raiders and the Arizona Cardinals. Both are interested, and after initial hope, it looks like the Seahawks will be losing Kubiak after the Super Bowl.
