SDCC ’25: Marvel’s She-Hulk, Nova, Black Panther & more to headline multiple new ongoing series

On Friday at San Diego Comic-Con 2025, Marvel Comics editor-in-chief C.B. Cebulski, VP and executive editor Tom Brevoort, Ultimate editor Wil Moss, and creators including Jonathan Hickman, Ryan North, and Stephanie Phillips joined forces for the “Marvel Comics” Next Big Thing” panel and talked about the future of the Marvel Universe to a room full of eager fans.

The panel announced the final issue of One World Under Doom, hitting shelves in November.

On the series’ conclusion, North said, “The story is in two parts. [In the second part], you’re kind of waiting for the other shoe to drop, because there’s no way he’s doing what he’s doing without any consequences. So in the second half, you see what’s going on behind the scenes. … I know issue #9 is the conclusion, but issue #8 has some big stuff that I’m very excited about.”

Additionally, the panel revealed five new ongoing series spinning out of Imperial. According to a teaser image shown during the presentation, the Marvel Cosmos has collapsed and will be replaced with something called The Union, “established this fall.” Color us intrigued.

“I’m so excited,” Phillips said. “Working with [artist Aaron Kuder] is so exciting, it’s fantastic. [For Planet She-Hulk], think big Game of Thrones. Think things not always related to She-Hulk. She’s ripped into a world that she’s not used to, and she has to bring her own sensibilities to it when she’s now facing witches, rebels, and cannibals…it’s going to be great. We wanted to go big. She’s got a giant sword, PLEASE let us use it.”

“This is a story that unites all the disparate and separate powers of the galactic portion of the Marvel Universe—the Kree, the Shi’ar, the Skrulls, and more—all in one big science-fiction epic, set up in a series of Russian nesting dolls where in every issue, something is pulled off, and something is revealed behind the thing you just learned the last time out. It’s an all-out cosmic war,” Brevoort shared.

Marvel’s “Next Big Thing” panel also teased the fall of the current Sorcerer Supreme and the beginning of a battle for succession beginning in December. Teaser art by Devmalya Pramanik shows several magic users from the Marvel Universe including Storm, the Scarlet Witch, Gambit, and Magik all wearing the Sorcerer Supreme’s iconic red cloak, each with their eyes on something in the distance—perhaps the power they all hope to seize now that there’s a vacuum of it.
