Salvador Perez passes George Brett on Royals' all-time home run list

Of course, Salvador Perez did it against the Detroit Tigers. The Kansas City Royals catcher/designated hitter has been humbling the AL Central rival for the past decade and a half. 

On Saturday, Perez victimized the Tigers again and created a career milestone in the process. After connecting on a sixth-inning home run at Comerica Park, the 15-year veteran launched career homer No. 318, tops in franchise history, passing Hall of Famer George Brett.

The solo shot tied the game at 2-2 and came off an 84.1-mph slider by Tigers reliever Kyle Finnegan.

It was his 31st career homer against the Tigers.

The teams in a series that have grown accustomed to close scoring games. Entering Saturday, the teams had played 10 straight games decided by two runs or fewer.
