To start the season, the New Orleans Saints looked like one of the NFL's more intriguing teams.

The Saints started well, but they’re now 1-4, with three straight losses.

Things obviously haven't gone as planned, though that was somewhat expected entering this season.

Just because they played well in the first two games of the season didn't mean things were going to flip all of a sudden.

This was supposed to be a bridge year for the Saints, with the hope that a guy like Tyler Shough could keep improving offensively.

Shough, who played his final college football season with Louisville, has shown some promising signs throughout this season. He was brutal against an above-average Minnesota Vikings defense in Week 5, completing just 64% of passes for 96 yards, including two interceptions.

However, outside of that, he's been one of the more above-average quarterbacks in football. He has nine touchdowns to five interceptions, throwing for 1,299 yards. At 27 years old, there are still some things that he has to figure out as a second-year quarterback in this league, and he recently spoke about that.

He was blunt in his assessment, saying he doesn't need to be Superman or try to do too much. Instead, he needs to be more detailed and try to take what a defense gives him.

“What I've been able to learn is whenever you get in these situations, I'm not trying to get it all back,” Shough said, per NOF Network. “I don’t need to be Superman and try to make up for a previous play. I can be a little bit more detailed when it comes to that. I'm never gonna shy away from ripping it.

One of the harder things for any young quarterback in the NFL is taking what a defense gives them early on.

We've seen this happen countless times with young players, and it's even led to many of them not sticking in the NFL.

I think Shough is in a good position to have a successful career, but the past few weeks have been a bit ugly. He'll have to figure that out, and I have a lot of trust in him to do it.
