Arch Manning wanted to beat Kelvin Banks Jr. to the Texas football facility.
That's the story relayed in a new feature by The Athletic that came out on Wednesday. Manning, the phenom QB, admired his veteran offensive tackle teammate.
But, according to Arch's father Cooper, the young Manning could never do it.
"He said Kelvin's always the first one in," Cooper told The Athletic. "So he said, 'I started trying to beat him in. I'd get there 10 minutes earlier than him, but Kelvin had gotten there 20 minutes earlier. It was like this unspoken rule - no, no, no, no one is gonna be in before me.' He just takes it seriously, which is good."
Banks was an All-American and was just chosen No. 9 overall in the NFL Draft by the New Orleans Saints.
Talk about a good influence for Arch.
It's great news for Saints fans, who have to love hearing that Banks is bringing that level of work ethic to New Orleans.
It'll also start the hoping for the Saints to end up drafting Arch whenever he comes out of Texas.

Arch is the grandson of Saints great Archie Manning, and the nephew of legendary QBs Peyton and Eli Manning.
Cooper Manning is the oldest son of Archie, and he was a star wide receiver before spinal stenosis ended his Ole Miss career.
Arch will be the full-time starter at Texas this fall. And with Banks gone, he may finally get to be the first one in the building.
