The New Orleans Saints are flying overseas to face the Pittsburgh Steelers in France for Week 7, and the 2-4 Saints really could use a win to stay alive in the NFC South race.

One way the Saints can improve is if their first-round pick, Jordyn Tyson, returns from injured reserve. He flew with the team to France, so there's some optimism he's close to returning. But what about suiting up in Week 7?

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that Tyson, according to general manager Mickey Loomis, won't practice this week. Tyson will remain out through Week 7, which is unfortunate, but not totally unexpected.

Jordyn Tyson gets bad news for Week 7 with practice report

"Saints WR Jordyn Tyson will not practice this week, per GM Mickey Loomis," Schefter reported.

The No. 8 overall pick has yet to play in the NFL, and now this update from Loomis confirms what was speculated on heading into the regular season.

Tyson's hamstring injury appeared to be one where he'd miss the first month or so of the year, with plenty of analysts and insiders pointing to one reason why Tyson wouldn't play in the first seven weeks of the season: the Saints' Week 8 bye.

With New Orleans on bye in Week 8, there's little reason to rush Tyson back one week before the bye, especially if he's not totally ready just yet.

It's too early in the season to rush anyone back from injury, let alone a rookie who has dealt with hamstring injury issues in the past.

Tyson will remain out through Week 7, and with the team's bye next week, he won't suit up until Week 9, when the Saints face the Cleveland Browns in New Orleans.

Free-agent running back pickup Travis Etienne Jr. might also come back that week, so there's a chance Tyler Shough not only gets his first-round WR back, but his top RB as well.

For now, the Saints will face the Steelers with Chris Olave, Devaughn Vele, Juwan Johnson, and company leading the charge for this offense, as Tyson won't practice this week, pointing to a post-bye debut for the rookie WR.
