Saints-Cowboys practice descends into chaos with multiple brawls — with ex-WWE star’s son in middle of it

Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer wasn’t happy with his team after a joint practice with the Saints turned into “fight club,” as the bench boss described it.

Multiple fights broke out between the two sides during Tuesday’s joint exercise in Oxnard, Calif., the Dallas Morning News reported, and punches were thrown during the skirmishes.

The outlet reported that Dallas linebacker Donovan Ezeiruaku was kicked out after an official saw him throw a punch, and video showed Cowboys cornerback Caelen Carson also throw a punch during a fight, although he remained in the practice.

Suspended Saints wide receiver Brock Rechsteiner — the son of WWE Hall of Famer Scott Steiner — used a german-suplex-like move, as the Morning News described it, to take down Cowboys safety Jalen Thompson.

“Nobody wants this,” Schottenheimer told reporters. “We want to get the work in. I thought it settled down and it was very chippy early on, but it was unfortunate.

“Our football team needs this work, and overall, I was disappointed in the work today because I didn’t think we got enough good work.”

The Dallas coach spoke with Saints head coach Kellen Moore at one point. They did discuss ending things early if the fighting continued, but it never reached the point that made it necessary.

Schottenheimer said his team was going to play with an “edge” and wouldn’t take “s–t from anybody.”

“But at the same time, I don’t think [the Saints] were the only ones stirring up the s–t,” he continued. “I think we might’ve been stirring it up as well. It was a sloppy practice all and all, and it’s got to be better.”
