Ryan Sparks moves back to pit box after Rodney Childers Spire split

Ryan Sparks will run it back with Justin Haley for the rest of the NASCAR Cup Series season following the Spire Motorsports split with Rodney Childers on Wednesday.

As was the case last year when Sparks was the crew chief for Corey Lajoie and then the final seven races of the season once they made a de facto driver trade with Rick Ware Racing for Haley, Sparks will split his time atop the pit box with his duties as competition director for the organization.

That is a role he has held for several seasons, while also serving as crew chief on the No. 7 car.

Haley is currently 23rd in the standings with just one top-10 but this is also a team that finished 32nd in the 2024 owner championship.

Childers has expressed a desire to return to NASCAR but is at home this week, completing overdue tasks that get missed due to life on the road.
