Blake Lively Shares Peek Into Life With Ryan Reynolds & Their Kids
You know Ryan Reynolds loves Blake Lively and their kids.
That's why the Deadpool star rang in his wife's 39th birthday with a look at their special moments together through the years, posting rare family photos featuring their children James, 11, Inez, 9, Betty, 6, and Olin, 3.
"August 25th is this family’s Super Bowl," Reynolds wrote on Instagram the following day. "Happy Birthday to the very best human I know. You’re not just another courageous and deeply kind genius. You’re also unreasonably cute."
The 49-year-old added, "I know how lucky I am that you were born. Every time I’ve ever hit my head, it’s YOUR life that flashes before my eyes."
Indeed, some of the memories Reynolds chose to highlight in his tribute include Lively hugging one of their daughters, as well as a snapshot of the Gossip Girl alum giving one of their little ones a ride on her shoulders.
A third image showed one of their daughters clad in a pink superhero outfit as she pretended to fight Reynolds and Lively—who married in 2012—on what appeared to be the Deadpool set.
In all the photos, Reynolds strategically cropped out or covered his kids' face with an emoji to protect their privacy—something he and Lively have done since becoming parents to daughter James in 2014.

"My husband and I chose a profession and a side effect of that is your personal life is public," Lively explained to Marie Claire U.K. in 2016. "Our child hasn't had the opportunity to choose whether or not she wants her personal life to be public or not. So in order to give her as much normality as possible, we want her to have a childhood like we had."
That includes raising their kids to be humble despite their parents' celebrity status.

"We try to give them as normal a life as possible," Reynolds told The Hollywood Reporter in 2024. "They’re already very much in touch with gratitude and understanding the world enough to have a strong sense of empathy. Those are the things that I would think [would indicate] we’re doing an OK job—if our kids can empathize with other people and other kids."
Still, the Free Guy actor acknowledged that his kids' upbringing is "different" from his and Lively's own experiences.

"We both grew up very working class, and I remember when they were very young, I used to say or think, like, 'Oh god, I would never have had a gift like this when I was a kid,' or, 'I never would’ve had this luxury of getting takeout,' or whatever," Reynolds noted. "Then I realized that that’s not really their bag of rocks to carry."
He added, "When I was a kid, you would just suck it up, get out of the house and be back by sundown, which I just can’t even imagine now."

On Dec. 15, 2016, Reynolds and Lively debuted their daughters James and Inez for the first time, at the actor's Hollywood Walk of Fame Ceremony (a common setting for notoriously private celebrities to introduce the world to their kids). During his speech, Reynolds said to his wife, "You make everything better—absolutely everything in my life better. You've given us two of the most incredible children that I could ever hope to have.
