The Calgary Flames have are set to start their 2025–26 regular season schedule, beginning October 8 on the road against their fiercest rival, the Edmonton Oilers. Just three days later, the Scotiabank Saddledome will roar to life for the home opener on October 11 against the St. Louis Blues, marking the official start of a season that promises high emotion, defining rivalries, and another chance to move the franchise forward.

Rivalries front and center

As always, the Battle of Alberta will highlight the calendar. Calgary and Edmonton will clash four times, beginning with the season opener in Edmonton and continuing with December and February matchups that are sure to set the tone in the Pacific Division. Flames fans can circle December 27, when Connor McDavid and the Oilers visit the Saddledome for the first time this season.

The Flames will also renew their rivalry with the Vancouver Canucks, squaring off three times, including a March 28 tilt in Calgary. The Winnipeg Jets, another Western Canadian rival, will visit the Saddledome on October 20 and November 15.

Holiday hockey at the dome

The Saddledome will be buzzing during the holiday stretch. December includes home games against Minnesota, Utah, Buffalo, Detroit, Seattle, and Vegas, capped off by a New Year’s Eve matchup with the Philadelphia Flyers. With the holiday energy in full swing, Calgary will look to make its building one of the toughest places to play in the NHL.

Testing the champions

One of the biggest dates of the season comes March 20, when the defending Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers make their lone visit to Calgary. It will be both a measuring stick for the Flames and a showcase game for fans eager to see how the team stacks up against the NHL’s best.

Long stretches, big opportunities

The Flames will face a grueling six-game homestand from March 18–28, taking on the Blues, Panthers, Lightning, Kings, Ducks, and Canucks in a stretch that could shape their playoff push. Not long after, they embark on a six-game road trip from March 30 to April 11, closing in Seattle in what may be a critical contest in the standings.

Huska’s extended run

Head coach Ryan Huska, who recently signed an extension, enters the season with the trust of management and the opportunity to build on last year’s progress.
