Russell Wilson calls out Sean Payton following obvious jab from Broncos head coach

8 hours ago 2

The Denver Broncos put together a historic comeback against the New York Giants, scoring 33 fourth-quarter points to overcome a 19-point deficit to win and get to 5-2 on the season. And while the game was full of drama on its own, more theatrics have followed.

Head coach Sean Payton shared comments with the media praising Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart, but seemingly made a point to take a swing at his former quarterback, Russell Wilson.

"They found a little spark with that quarterback," Payton said. "I was talking to John Mara not too long ago and I said we were hoping that change would've happened long after our game."

Payton was obviously hinting that he wanted to play Russell Wilson rather than Dart, who has given the Giants a spark offensively, leading them to wins against the Los Angeles Chargers and Philadelphia Eagles. Wilson fired back at Payton on X.

"Classless," Wilson posted. "But not surprised…. Didn’t realize you’re still bounty hunting 15+ years later through the media."

Wilson was with the Broncos for two seasons, one of which was spent with Payton where the two reportedly had a lot of heat and did not get along. Wilson was ultimately released and signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers, where he led them to the postseason. He signed with the New York Giants this past offseason.
