Manchester United fans, breathe easy. Your captain isn't packing his bags for the desert just yet.
With reports swirling about a jaw-dropping offer from Al-Hilal for Bruno Fernandes, Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has stepped up to set the record straight.
And it’s a red light for any Saudi switch.
The Portuguese boss, who took charge of the Red Devils ahead of the 2024-25 season, addressed the rumors head-on during his press conference before United’s crucial Europa League semi-final clash against Athletic Club.
The story? Al-Hilal is reportedly ready to spend over £100 million and hand Fernandes an eye-watering wage to join their star-studded squad.
But Amorim is having none of it.

Ruben Amorim clears the air on Bruno Fernandes transfer situation
“It’s normal that a lot of clubs want a player like Bruno,” said Amorim. “But we want to keep the best players, and Bruno is clearly one of the top players in the world, so our idea didn’t change. We want Bruno here.”
Translation: no matter how fat the check, Fernandes isn’t for sale.
The 30-year-old midfielder has been United’s brightest spark in a bumpy season, scoring 19 goals and adding 18 assists across all competitions.
He’s the heartbeat of Amorim’s team — creator, leader, and occasional goal machine. And when your captain has numbers like that, it’s no wonder clubs are sniffing around.
Amorim also stressed that Fernandes' influence goes beyond stats. “He is a top player and we need top players. He is a leader, the captain. It is natural that people want Bruno, but we want to keep him.”
Fernandes’ current contract runs until 2027, and while the Saudis can offer oil money, United still holds the power — and the player, for now.
So unless Al-Hilal comes with an offer that even the Glazers aand Sir Jim Ratcliffe can’t refuse, expect Bruno to keep leading the charge at Old Trafford.
