Royals' Salvador Perez does the unthinkable in Tigers matchup

Kansas City Royals catcher Salvador Perez did something on Sunday that nobody in the stadium was expecting him to do. 

Perez stole a base. 

Yes, that's right. 

It was Perez's first stolen base since July 21, 2021. The 36-year-old is not a speedster by any stretch of the imagination. 

However, the Detroit Tigers were caught sleeping. 

Perez has never stolen more than one base in a season. Since his previous bag-swiping, 755 games have come and gone.

Meanwhile, the Royals won their eighth consecutive game.

Even with eight straight victories, the Royals remain 7.5 games back of the Cleveland Guardians for the third and final Wild Card spot. 

Perez is hitting .222/.267/.376 with 17 home runs and a .643 OPS in 122 games this season.
