The Kansas City Royals get their MVP-caliber shortstop back on Tuesday night.
Today, the AL Central club announced that Bobby Witt Jr. was reinstated from the injured list after he missed multiple weeks with lower back tightness and spasms.
It was the first IL stint of Witt's career.
The Royals have also recalled right-hander Jose Cuas from Triple-A Omaha.
Witt and Cuas take the roster spots of two players who were both designated for assignment by the Royals.
Infielder Andrew Velazquez was DFA'd. More notably, Kansas City cut ties with lefty reliever Matt Strahm.

Strahm was an All-Star with the Philadelphia Phillies in 2024 but has not found the same success with the Royals.
In 41 appearances in 2026, the 34-year-old owns a 7.32 ERA with 30 strikeouts and 14 walks in 35.2 innings.

Just one season ago, Strahm posted a 2.74 ERA in 66 relief appearances out of the Phillies' bullpen.
He made his Major League debut with the Royals in 2016, before stops with the San Diego Padres and a brief one-year stint with the Boston Red Sox in 2022.
The Royals acquired Strahm from the Phillies during the offseason in exchange for right-hander Jonathan Bowlan.
