Fans drew comparisons with Lionel Messi after Cristiano Ronaldo's sumptuous strike helped Al-Nassr to a 4-1 Saudi Pro League home win over Al-Khaleej on Sunday (November 23).

Jorge Jesus' side ran riot at Al-Awwal Park, opening the scoring through Joao Felix six minutes before half-time before Wesley doubled their advantage three minutes later.

Murad Al-Hawsawi reduced arrears for the visitors two minutes after the break, but Sadio Mane restored Al-Alami's two-goal lead 13 minutes from time. There was still time for Ronaldo to roll back the years with an acrobatic finish to make it nine wins out of nine deep in stoppage time for the runaway Pro League leaders.

One fan simply tweeted:

"Rooney, you got this!""

There were ecstatic reactions from other fans, who marvelled Ronaldo's ability to conjure such magical moments despite turning 40 earlier this year.

That’s the GOAT.. Messi fans can’t relate

40 years old and still pulling off a championship-winning bicycle kick. He's not from this planet. 👽

I’ve never seen Messi score like this in my life, so how can he be the GOAT?!?!

What a goalllllllll. This guy is a true athlete. What he's doing at age 40 is unbelievable!!!!

No one can at that age!!!

Give him the Puskas already

Following the victory, Ronaldo and Co. are four points clear of second-placed Al-Hilal, the only other unbeaten side in the Saudi top division after nine matches.

Meanwhile, Messi's Inter Miami are preparing for a MLS Conference semi-final at Cincinnati later on Sunday after finishing a point behind Philadelphia in the regular season.

Ronaldo's other goal this campaign came in the Saudi Super Cup, where Jesus' side lost on penalties to Al-Ahli on penalties, prolonging the Portuguese's quest to end his near three-decade competitive title drought with the Knights of Najd.

Meanwhile, Messi is in the midst of a superb campaign with the Herons, scoring 42 times and providing 20 assists in 46 games across competitions. With 29 strikes (and 16 assists) in MLS, the 2022 FIFA World Cup winner is the competition's top goalscorer and assist-provider this season.
