Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Roman Wilson is hoping to have a bounce-back 2025 campaign after missing nearly all of his rookie season due to injury.
With the departure of George Pickens and the Steelers having no clear-cut No.2 receiver, Wilson has a prime opportunity to snag a starting spot in his second season. Bleacher Report's Damian Parson predicts the former third-round pick will have a breakout 2025 campaign.
"Wilson is healthy and possesses the traits and versatility to potentially fill the "Randall Cobb" role with Aaron Rodgers under center at quarterback," Parson wrote.
"The Steelers' receivers outside of Metcalf are uninspiring, to say the least. Wilson has the chance to earn a starting or high-snap role in the offense and break out in a big way, if Rodgers plays well," Parson added.
Pittsburgh will need someone in the receiver room to step up and help Metcalf, who is entering his first season with the team after being traded from the Seattle Seahawks.
Wilson is the perfect candidate for the WR2 role. Coming out of Michigan, the 24-year-old was viewed as a high-potential dynamic playmaker with exhilarating athleticism.
Despite dealing with a bunch of injuries last season, Wilson still boasts a ton of promise and could be a future building block for Mike Tomlin's squad. Having a breakout season in 2025 would not only help Wilson himself but also the Steelers and quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who needs another viable boundary receiving option.
