Roderick Hood remembers both the scoldings and the pep talks that await his nephew as a Giants rookie.

John Harbaugh, as Eagles special teams coordinator, once told Hood that he was a first-round talent who went undrafted because he doesn’t pay attention to details … then praised him for being in the right place to make plays.

Another time, Harbaugh told Hood that he wasn’t going to make the team as a rookie by being enamored with playing cornerback … then sat him down for a heart-to-heart talk about embracing his role as a core special-teamer.

And there was the time Harbaugh chewed out Hood for arriving late to practice without the chance to explain that he was held in a meeting with another coach … then humbly apologized for the staff miscommunication.
